An Exciting Costa Rica Adventure Vacation

If you are an adventure seeker or perhaps want to plan your unique honeymoon or a superb family getaway, know that Costa Rica offers numerous destinations and activities that will make it an especially fun vacation. Guided tours are recommended so that you can get the most value and learn interesting facts about the locations or sports.

Whitewater rafting

This is an especially popular way to enjoy Costa Rica. You raft through the jungle and rainforest on famous rivers such as the Savegre and stop along the way for swimming spots, cascading waterfalls, and perhaps for lunch at the small village of Silencio.

The Savegre River, one of the most pristine rivers in the country, begins in the Talamanca Mountain Range and flows south to an estuary in the Manuel Antonio National Park. Calm spots provide opportunities to view scenery and wildlife, while rapids are like roller coaster rides that get the adrenaline flowing.

La Fortuna Waterfall in the Arenal Volcano National Park

The 65 meter waterfall is amazingly tall and beautiful, and you can swim in two places, either the huge emerald blue pool at the bottom of the falls or a more shallow set of pools just downstream. Getting there is rather difficult with 500 stairs to climb down and then up again, but it is a spectacular adventure. One challenge is that you can try your hardest to swim to the base of the waterfall, but the pressure is so strong that you almost stay in the exact same spot. There are rocks you can sit on for hours if you don’t feel like going in the water.

Kayaking

With over 802 miles of coastline and countless rivers, lakes, and estuaries, Costa Rica offers kayaking tours open to both experienced and inexperienced kayakers as they spot wildlife above and below the water. Lake Arenal, for example, lying adjacent to the magnificent Arenal Volcano in the Northern Lowlands, is considered to be the most spectacular lake in the country. You can add activities such as fishing, wind surfing, sail boarding and others.
