Whether you have been cycling for 20 years or just bought your first bicycle last week, everyone who enjoys cycling can improve their fitness levels. The journey to get fitter is a never-ending battle. There is no ceiling for fitness. Even the fittest cyclist on the planet could get in better shape. If you want to get fitter, it takes hard work and determination. It also requires more than just riding your bicycle. To help you get in better shape, here are six tips to improve your cycling fitness.



Get best shape of your body and life by HIIT.


1. High-Intensity Interval Training

There is no better fitness tool to get you in the best shape of your life than high-intensity interval training (HIIT). If you are unfamiliar with HIIT, it is a training method where you ride as fast as you can for set time periods with resting periods in between. Try going for two minutes at a time and then resting for a minute until you are wiped out. If you do this a few times a week, you will be amazed at how quickly your fitness level rises.

2. Cycle More

It may seem like a no-brainer, but you would be surprised how many people think they can improve their cycling fitness levels without spending the necessary time in the saddle. It is important that you get on your bike at least three to four times a week if your want to get in better shape. You should aim for at least six hours of cycling each week, but more is always better.





3. Get a Better Bicycle or Accessories

If you want to get in better shape, you need to have a bicycle that you enjoy riding or you won’t be motivated to get on it. You can always plunk down a few thousand dollars for a beautiful training or racing cycle to get you motivated, but simply looking for some cycling accessories in Malaysia like a comfier seat, better handlebars or better shifters can be enough to rekindle your passion for riding.



Consume more fruits and vegetables and avoid eating junk food.


4. Eat Better

One thing that many people overlook when it comes to improving their cycling fitness is the role that proper nutrition plays in improving athletic performance. If you eat a lot of junk food, it will really hold back your fitness level. You should try to eat lots of fruits and vegetables. You also should eat lots of whole grains and avoid red meat as much as possible. People who are serious about improving their cycling fitness also need to keep their alcohol consumption down as low as possible.

If you start to get serious about cycling, you will soon realize that spending all that time on your bike is hard on your body. To keep your body limber, one of the best things you can add to your daily routine is a yoga practice. Even just 20 or 30 minutes of yoga a day will make a world of difference. Not only will it keep your body feeling loose, it will also prevent injury, improve focus and up your energy level.

6. Get Your Rest

When you train hard to get in better shape for cycling, all your efforts will be for naught if you do not get the rest your need. You should sleep at least seven hours a night if you want to allow your body to recuperate properly. You also need to avoid working out at least one day a week to give your body a chance to recover from a gruelling training regimen. Getting the rest you need will allow you to work out hard and get the most out of your cycling workouts.
